If there is such a thing as a dive store’s birth certificate, it looks something like this. What you are seeing is the certificate for PADI Training Facility number 606, Underseas Scuba Center.

Among the most prominent features of this certificate is the original PADI logo, designed by Loyola University professor and PADI co-founder Ralph Erickson. Here’s a trivia questions for you: What current or past Underseas Scuba Center staff member designed the current PADI logo and came up with the slogan, “The way the world learns to dive?” We’ll reveal this secret a little later on this year.
