A Sea Change

Yet another view of the 626 North Addison store. On the far wall you see a number of horse-collar BCs and the primitive cylinder backpacks you had to use with them. If you look carefully, however, you will also see a US Divers Sea Otter and a Seatec Bluefin — two of the first jacket-style BCs. Within a year of when this photo was taken, it seemed as though you couldn't give away a horse-collar BC, so quickly did the diving public embrace jacket-style models.
