Scuba ChecksIn the dark days before electronic bill payment, people used to satisfy the cravings of their creditors by writing these things calls checks, which they delivered by way of something called mail. The good news was, you didn’t have to settle for the plain green checks your bank issued. In the early 1980s, a company introduced what they called Scuba Checks. For a fee, they would print up a number of these colorful checks, personalized with your account information, so that you could show your creditors what it was got to do that they were missing. Three of the first four scuba check designs featured underwater photos by Underseas Scuba Center co-owner Bruce Hootman. Sandy Hootman is the diver you see on the top check.
