Gran Cenote

Gran Cenote, west of Tulum on the Yucatan coast, is a gigantic hole that enables visitors to look down into a window on Sistema Sac Actun (the “Water Cave System” in Mayan). In the center of the hole, or “cenote” (say-noh-tay), is a small island.

This dock on the edge of the island is built from local saplings, as “regular” lumber is far too expensive and difficult to come by. The drop from the edge of the cenote to the dock is over 20 feet
