Suunto D6

The Suunto D6 is a simpler (and less expensive) version of the revolutionary Suunto D9. It is a compact, wrist-mounted computer that can also double as a watch for everyday wear. Although it lacks the D9’s air-integration, the D6 nevertheless incorporates a number of advanced features, including:

• The D6 and its sibling, the D9, are the only dive computers to incorporate an integrated (and highly sophisticated) electronic, digital compass.
• The D6 can track up to two separate gas mixtures ranging from air to ean99.
• An optional PC interface cable allows you to upload data to a desktop or laptop computer, enabling you to maintain a highly detailed dive log.

What Does It Need?

Normal service on this model involves periodic battery replacement. Indications that it is time for battery replacement include:

• A “low battery” indicator appears, as covered in the Owners Manual.
• The computer was functioning properly when last used; however, after a period of inactivity, it simply will not turn on.
• The computer will turn on but shuts down shortly afterward, or displays erroneous information.

The cost for battery replacement, including parts and labor, is US$55 plus return shipping costs.

Every two years or 200 dives (whichever comes first), Suunto strongly recommends a bi-annual service that includes:

• Complete disassembly of the D6.
• Careful cleaning of all surfaces that may have been exposed to water.
• Battery replacement.
• Replacement and lubrication of O-rings, gaskets and several screws.
• Reassembly and pressure testing.

More extensive problems may require additional parts and labor — or even replacement. If this is the case, we will contact you with an estimate of the total cost and ask for your approval before continuing.
