Happy Thanksgiving week to all of our fellow divers. We wanted to kick off what can be a super busy, stressful week for many with all of the traveling, cooking, family visiting that is on the horizon, with all of the things we as divers are thankful for.
Things Diver's Are Thankful For:
1. Warm Water
Nothing beats diving in water that feels like a bathtub. We know all of our local divers who are preparing to fight out yet another cold, snowy, frozen winter are all thankful that there are places in this world we can escape to where all we have to wear is a dive skin underwater and a bathing suit at the surface.
2. Advances in gear technology
If it wasn't for this, we would all still be wearing horseshoe collar BCD's and breathing through single-hose regulators. We are SO thankful for super comfortable BC's, easy breathing regs, and easy to get into wetsuits!
3. Dive computers
If there is one thing we should be thankful for as divers it's the invention of Dive Computers! Without these things, we would still have to be crunching numbers on the dive tables. Dive computers have not only made diving easier and more enjoyable but by far they have made diving a whole lot safer!
4. Nitrox
Thank you, Dick Rutkowski, for bringing Nitrox to the recreational world of diving. Now we can stay down longer (within limits) and explore this world more than we could ever imagine!
5. L.E.D. Dive Lights
Any diver who loves to night dive will tell you how thankful they are for the invention of LED dive lights. Now we can see the underwater world, not in a haze of yellow light, but in clear light, magnifying the colors that nature intended us to see and also letting us see more of it!
6. Dive boat operators
Without these guys who would get us out to the reef?? We are ever thankful to those who made it their life's work to run us avid divers and all our gear out to where we can explore the underwater world we love.
7. Breathable power inflators
Who was overjoyed the day they got to get rid of their "octo"?!? Having a breathable power inflator has made diving so much more enjoyable.
8. Digital Cameras
Ok, so we know this one is not exclusive to diving, but boy are we thankful that we no longer only get 24 or 36 chances to snap a great photo.
9. Silicone
The invention and application of this type of rubber has done great things for us divers by making our masks so much more comfortable and leak-proof, and making our drysuit seals work so much better!
10. Our Dive Buddies
Most importantly we are so thankful for our dive buddies. We would never want to dive without our dive buddies; they make diving much more fun and safe!
